JACK DOSSEY JR. DOES IT AGAIN
Indianapolis, Ind. - Jack Dossey Jr. became the first man in history to win an unbelievable 6th World Figure - 8 Endurance race at the Indianapolis Speedrome. Dossey again showed his dominance of the September classic with his 6th victory in the last 7 attempts.
Dossey, driving the Troy Motors/Volunteers of America Chvrolet started on the pole and led the event for 445 of his 495 laps in front of a sold-out crowd. Duane Lee, himself a two time winner of the event finished second 4 laps down. Bill Tunny Jr. finished a career best finish coming in third and completing 480 laps. Tunny was followed to the finish by Rich Fenwick with 478 laps and the top five was rounded out by Rodney Sizemore with 476 laps.
Michigan's Jeremy Miller completed 414 laps earning the Sonny Eaton Memorial Rookie of the race award while finishing 9th. Mike Hughes started 40th and finished 18th to earn the Sonny Thompson memorial award for the best start/finish improvement. Buddy Vertrees a Louisville Ky driver collected the "Best Invader Finish" bonus.
