Fellow Figure-8 racers -

In case you've missed the news. The 30th Annual World Figure-8 Endurance Championship will pay $30,000 TO WIN. What does that me to you, a Saturday night bullring warrior? Maybe nothing, maybe everything. If it means nothing, don't bother reading on. Leave now and go on with your pathetic little career as a figure-8 racer. If on the other hand a $30,000 to win figure-8 race at least got your curiosity up, please read on.

In my time as director of N.O.F.E.A.R. I have communicated with racers all over the world, we have members all over the United States as well as in places like Canada, Australia, Hungary and a country I've never even heard of. In talking with all these people there are several things that seem to be constant:

  1. First and foremost - Figure-8 racers are a special breed. There are very few racers that are willing to do what we do. I have heard this special quality called many things, the most common would have to be: brave, crazy and down-right stupid. Most casual observers think it is a combination of all three. I don't agree with any of those things. I think it is simply a lust to meet a difficult challenge head-on. Figure-8 racing is the most difficult of all motor sports, perhaps the ultimate 4 wheeled challenge.
  2. Another thing that almost all drivers and fans believe is that figure-8 racing should be huge. It is the most popular class at almost every speedway where it is run, "so why don't we see it on TV? Why isn't there a big time traveling series?" These are things I hear OFTEN.

So what's my point? There is something that could address both of these constants: The 30th Anniversary World Figure-8 Championship race (did I mention that it pays $30,000 to win?). I have personally raced in the World championship five times and I can assure you that it is the ultimate challenge for a figure-8 racer. So if you like a challenge and if you think you're good, bring it on. Come to Indy. This is THE race, with the BEST drivers and the BIGGEST payoff.

But there is more to this race than just a GIANT payoff (I think I mentioned the fact that it pays $30,000 to win). With this race we have an opportunity before us to perhaps change the future of the sport. How? By showing up, by competing and by doing what figure-8 racers do best, putting on a good show.

This race is going to draw an incredible amount of attention from the press and other people that could have a huge influence on the future of figure-8 racing. There is a good possibility that this race will be televised. Which makes this a golden opportunity to show these people what an awesomely exciting sport figure-8 racing can be. If these people like what they see (and what's not to like?) we might just be able to start something great.

If you have any interest in being involved in the BIGGEST FIGURE-8 RACE IN HISTORY please feel free to contact us here at N.O.F.E.A.R. or the fine folks at the Speedrome with any questions. http://www.speedrome.com
